Shale EOR Decision-Making: Integrating Technology Readiness, Reservoir Data, and Techno-Economic Realities from Lab to Field
Shale production has transformed global supply, yet recovery factors in unconventional reservoirs remain low. Despite promising concepts, including gas huff-n-puff (CO2, hydrocarbon gas, N2), chemical and foam-assisted processes, surfactants, nanoparticles, and Y-grade reinjection, large-scale deployment has been inconsistent. Reservoir complexity, economic volatility, and scale-up risks continue to limit adoption.
This expert panel will discuss how integrated techno-economic analysis (TEA) can screen, compare, and prioritize shale IOR/EOR options under realistic operational and market constraints. We will outline a workflow linking laboratory data, reservoir characterization, numerical modeling, pilot testing, and field logistics to economic decision frameworks. Key themes include:
