In the context of short term geopolitical and economic uncertainties, and as the global energy system reaches a critical inflection point, the upstream industry faces a dual mandate: delivering affordable, reliable energy while accelerating decarbonization and the development of new energy pathways. The ATCE 2026 theme, Exploring New Horizons with Innovative Solutions, reflects both the industry’s legacy of technical excellence and its responsibility to define the next frontiers of energy development.
This year’s Opening General Session convenes top executives from leading industry players to provide candid insight into how they are integrating traditional reservoir management with emerging technologies. Panelists will discuss strategies for creating value across the upstream lifecycle, including advanced hydraulic fracturing optimization, enhanced oil recovery, scalable geothermal systems, carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS), and digital transformation.
The discussion will aim at moving from vision to execution, addressing how leaders balance capital discipline with research, development, and partnerships to deliver innovation at scale. Aligned with SPE’s mission, the session will highlight how these approaches translate into safer operations, improved recovery, reduced emissions, and more resilient assets, advancing a secure and sustainable energy future.
