Alex serves as the Associate Deputy Secretary of Energy and Senior Advisor to the Secretary at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). In this role, Alex advances a more affordable, reliable, and secure energy system for the American people. As part of his position, Alex is a voting member of the DOE Credit Review Board.

Prior to his current role, Alex was most recently Acting Under Secretary of Energy. In this role, Alex oversaw a broad portfolio of applied energy offices and energy financing programs, including DOE’s Office of Energy Dominance Financing, the largest energy lender in the U.S.

Alex has also served as Director of the Office of Cybersecurity, Energy Security, and Emergency Response (CESER). In this role, Alex led DOE’s efforts to safeguard the nation’s energy infrastructure against evolving cyber and physical threats.

Alex holds a Master of Science in Cybersecurity from The Georgia Institute of Technology.
