Hugo Costeno Enriquez
Hugo Costeno is a Senior Well Engineer and Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) Subject Matter Expert at SLB New Energy, based in Houston, Texas, with 18 years of industry experience.
He has overseen the design and delivery of integrated well projects across land, shallow-water, deepwater, geothermal, carbon storage, and other non-hydrocarbon applications. In his current role, he leads the global wells domain for CCS initiatives, including project screening and due diligence, well risk assessment, CCS well design, planning, construction advisory, and the development of wells-related workflows, processes, and guidelines. He works across multidisciplinary teams and business units to deliver fit-for-purpose solutions.
He is the author of numerous technical publications on well design, well abandonment, operations planning, digitalization, and CCS. He is a contributing author of the IOGP White Paper WHP001: Considerations for Well Control During CCS Operations and currently serves as Membership Chair of the SPE CCUS Technical Section.
