Junjie Yu is a Machine Learning Engineer on the Reservoir R&D team at Zanskar Geothermal & Minerals, where he is one of the main developers of the company's AI drilling targeting engine. Zanskar takes a data-driven approach to de-risking geothermal drilling, combining machine learning with geoscience and reservoir physics to decide where wells should be placed. His expertise is at the intersection of subsurface systems, machine learning, and optimization theory. He holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering and an MS in Computer Science from the University of Southern California, and previously worked on AI for energy applications at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and Beyond Limits.
