Speakers

Mary Kang is an associate professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at McGill University in Montreal and holds the Canada Research Chair in Environmental Monitoring and Energy Transition. Her Subsurface Hydrology and Environmental Analysis Laboratory studies energy transition, the climate and environmental impacts of energy systems, and subsurface hydrology, with particular emphasis on methane emissions from oil and gas wells and infrastructure. Previously, Kang was a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Earth System Science at Stanford University and an engineering consultant in Reston, Virginia. She holds a certificate in science, technology, and environmental policy from Princeton University’s School of Public and International Affairs. Kang earned a PhD in civil and environmental engineering from Princeton University and MASc and BASc degrees in civil engineering from the University of Waterloo.
