Stephen Krase

CEO, Hephae Energy Technology

Steve Krase earned his B.S. in Geology from the University of Akron in 1980. Originally from Long Island, New York, he played soccer for the Zips for two years before turning his full attention to his geology studies. Krase began his career with Exlog as a well site geologist. After a brief role at Chevron Geosciences, he joined The Superior Oil Company, where he worked until 1984 before moving to Teleco Oilfield Services, leaders in Measurement While Drilling (MWD) technology at the time. Over the years at Teleco, Krase held a variety of roles in technology and operations, eventually being named Director of Engineering in 1991. He continued in this capacity after Baker Hughes acquired Teleco in 1992, where he spearheaded the development of the first commercial Logging While Drilling (LWD) systems. In 1996 Krause joined Halliburton where he served as Global Operations Manager and Director of Engineering before venturing off on his own in 1998 to form a series of start-up companies focused on developing drilling and logging technologies. Most recently, in 2021, Krase founded Hephae Energy Technology, a company dedicated to developing high temperature solutions to support the rapid growth of the Next-Generation Geothermal industry.
