Carolyn Seto

Executive Director, S&P Global Commodity Insights

Carolyn is an Executive Director in the Energy Technology and Innovation practice with S&P Commodity Insights where she investigates the strategic implications of emerging technologies on the energy sector—from how firms source technology to how they leverage value from their technology development efforts.  Ms. Seto also manages the CERAWeek Energy Innovation Pioneers program, where she identifies emerging energy technology trends and promising startups developing disruptive solutions for the energy sector.

Prior to S&P Global, Carolyn has a diverse set of experiences across from across the entire energy value chain, in both technical and commercial capacities—from managing the quantitative fuel analytics group in the power utilities industry to working as a reservoir engineer for a number of major integrated oil and gas companies.  She holds PhD and MSc degrees in petroleum engineering from Stanford University and a BSc in engineering chemistry from Queen’s University, as well as holding the Clare Boothe Luch Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
