Rhonda Welch
Rhonda Welch is a geoscientist and technical leader who is passionate about helping others reach their full potential. As Chevron’s Subsurface Talent Manager, she drives the technical and professional development of Chevron’s Earth Science and Petroleum Engineering community. Rhonda holds a Ph.D. in Geology from James Cook University, and a B.S. and M.S. in Geological Sciences from VA Tech.
Prior to this position, Rhonda’s career concentrated on delivering technical excellence in the Earth Science discipline. She worked for many years as a stratigraphic expert focusing on fluvial to deepwater depositional environments, provided technical assurance for and assigned risk and resource numbers to Chevron’s global exploration portfolio, and led multiple groups of technical specialists within the Chevron Technical Center.
Rhonda has a long history of working with organizations that support student/young professional development and diversity initiatives. She currently volunteers as a STEM coach at her local middle school in Houston, TX and serves on the Virginia Tech Geosciences Advisory Board.
